Questions we are frequently asked by customers

Q. My dog has fleas can they come to your salon?
A. If your dog has fleas, then please notify us as soon as possible, this way we can book your dog in seperately so as not to put any other dogs at risk. We will then de-flea your dog using a professional flea treatment.

Q. My dog is matted, do you charge extra?
A. It depends on how badly matted your dog is, if your dog is so badly matted that it results in any of our blades becoming blunt, then there will be a charge for the cost of re-sharpening the blade. However, if your dog just has  a few mats which can easily be removed, then there is no extra charge.

Q. Can my dog come for just a bath?
Absolutely! We have many customers who bring their dogs regularly just for a bath, and others which bring their dogs for a bath, in-between Full Groom visits.

Q.Do you groom larger breeds, like Newfoundlands or Great Danes?
A. Yes we do, although, unfortunately there are certain breeds, which due to their notoriaty of temperament we do not groom.(Please ask when phoning)

Q. My dog had a bad experience with our last groomer and now I am worried about taking them anywhere else?
A. Please do not worry, we have had several customers who's dogs have had previous bad experiences with other groomers. In this particular situation, we will book your dog in on their own, this will enable one groomer to re-assure your dog whilst being groomed but also assess the best way to help your dog in the future.

Q. Can I stay with my dog?
A. We do find that the majority of dogs are more at ease with the grooming experience if their owner is not present. This is because, if the owner is apprehensive, then the dog senses that and then itself becomes apprehensive.

Q. Can my dog come to you for a brush out?
A. Yes, we will happily do that for you.

Q. Will my dog be put in a cage?
A. All dogs are put into cages, this is for their own safety and the groomers safety. To have dogs running around the salon would be a major hazard.

Q. I don't like those straps groomers put around dog's necks, do you use them?
A. We do use neck straps, this enables us to make sure that your dog is safe and secure on the table whilst being groomed.

Q. My dog has sensitive skin, will your shampoo affect that?
A. We use a range of professional grooming shampoos each individually designed for every type of coat and skin. They are Organic and FREE from harsh detergents and chemicals, they are also bio-degradable, so not only are they kind to your dogs skin and coat but also the environment.

Q. My dog has been given shampoo by the vet, will you use it on them?
A. Certainly, just bring your dogs prescription shampoo with you when you drop your dog off, and we will use it following the instructions issued by your vet.

Q. Do you also have a grooming salon in Smallthorne?
A. No, CANINE W.A.G.S is in no way associated with the grooming salon in Smallthorne which has a similar name to ours.

Q. Are you any less professional because you operate your salon from home?
A. No, we are just as professional as any excellent groomer operating from a shop.

Q. Are you insured for grooming?
A. Yes, CANINE W.A.G.S is fully insured as a dog grooming salon.

Q. Why is running the business from your home an advantage?
 1. Customers can call us any time.

2. We can be flexible with the days we work, so as to suit our customers.

3. Your dog will not be distracted by passing cars or pedestrians.

4. Our working day is more relaxed as we do not need to groom the volume of dogs a shop needs to run.
